St Thomas Hospital

In 2009 Watts were awarded the contract to design supply and install 12 no. “MONOBLOC” aluminium and bolted glass units to enhance and improve the retail shopping area to the ground floor of St Thomas Hospital London. The project involved combining an Aluminium curtain wall support system linked with specialist bolted glass panels all finished with an ANALOK electroplated finish to match the external facade of the building. Concealed door opening controls complete with facility to link to all new and existing services were supplied and installed to suit the requirements of the Health Trust.

The main entrance to any building is important as a first point of call and to this end Watts were commissioned to provide a new reception desk combining timber, stainless steel and curved glass complete with backlighting .This elegant piece of furniture was manufactured in our workshop facility and transported to site complete ready for installation.

Further on from the entrance desk the main hospital is accessed by a central corridor illuminated by a “FEATURE LIGHTWALL” constructed from aluminium supports and in-filled with Macrolon panels with the added built in facility to dim the brightness.

The central spine of the hospital is serviced by an access stairway and due to fire and safety regulations this area required a suitable form of protection to protect staff and the public. Watts were employed to overcome and design a suitable solution to combat the problem that can occur in such a busy environment. An approved powder coated steel framework incorporating “FIRE PROTECTION” glass conforming to all current regulations was installed including all self closing control equipment.
